Auction stars of Arizona – and one white dwarf

 

 

 

 

(Dizano.info) – No fewer than five auction houses have decamped to the affluent enclave in the US’s desert southwest, wielding prime examples of sought-after collector cars.

 

Sales have been ongoing throughout the week. On of the most closely watched lots, a 1961 Porsche 718 RS 61 Spyder, achieved $2.75m at RM Auctions’ sale on 16 January – below the vehicle’s low estimate.

 

Indeed, prices for collector cars have been wildly uneven in recent months; a record $27.5m price paid in August 2013 for a competition Ferrari has not lifted all boats.

 

Herewith, a look at some of the most desirable cars that have crossed the block in Scottsdale, and many that still await their turn, just off the auction dais.
